During a time when all-wheel-drive cars were rising to prominence, the R5 Turbo took a different approach. The rear-wheel-drive mid-engined hatchback won a variety of rallies between 1981 and 1986, including Monte-Carlo. The street legal version of the car was also a hit across Europe and remains the epitome of a “hot hatch” to this day.
